Randy Richardville
Randy Richardville was born and
raised in Monroe County. He
graduated from Albion College with an Economics and Management Degree and later
earned his Masters of Management from Aquinas College. Randy was elected to the
Michigan House of Representatives in 1998.
He held a leadership position in the House each of his three terms –
serving as the House Majority Floor Leader during his final term. During his 6 years in the
House, Randy was a leader in several areas – especially economic development,
veteran’s and children’s issues. Among
his legislative accomplishments, he passed laws to expand neighborhood
enterprise zones; extend Brownfield tax credits to clean-up old industrial
property; and create a lead-free safe housing registry.
Throughout his tenure in the House Randy served on numerous committees,
but none are as close to his heart as his two terms as Chairman of the
Veteran’s Affairs Committee. Immediately upon entering
office Randy introduced a bill to decrease the state income tax rate.
This was the first bill passed and signed into law in 1999. Prior to being elected to
the Michigan House of Representatives, Randy worked in the business community -
with 20 years experience in Fortune 500 companies. Randy’s work on behalf of
Michigan citizens has earned him respect and praise from all over the state.
He was named legislator of the year in 2003 by both the Deputy Sheriffs
Association and Michigan Sheriff’s Association.
The Michigan Children’s Trust Fund named Randy a “Champion for
Children” in 2004. In 2005, the
Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC) named Randy their “Conservation
Legislator of the Year.” Randy
has also been honored by the American Legion and other veteran’s organizations
for his work on behalf of our men and women who served in the armed forces. He has been active for years in
several community organizations. Randy
is a former member of the Monroe County Planning Commission.
He is currently a member of the United Way, Monroe County Chamber of
Commerce, the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, Habitat for Humanity
Church Relations Committee, and the Community Foundation of Monroe County. Randy currently works as an
Economic Development Director in southeast Michigan. He and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 27 years. They have two adult children, Amanda and Adam, and make their home in Monroe County. |
